Changes from versions prior to V.3.6.0 can be viewed on the old website.

Version 3.6.1 (upcoming):

Added "Return to normal mode" button: Previously, when a special mode was active (EXIF mode, mask mode, file date mode, or file association mode), returning to normal mode was not very intuitive.
Users had to—and can still—go back to the window where the mode was originally selected and uncheck the option.
A button has been added to the main screen to allow a return to the default mode in any situation.

Addition of two new EXIF metadata fields: "Copyright" and "Artist." Previously, it was possible to include photographer identification in the filename using the "Owner" metadata field; however, that field is specific to Canon. "Copyright" and "Artist," by contrast, are part of the standard EXIF specification.

Added a new menu entry: to check for the availability of an update for Renomme.

Additional help buttons: are included in several screens (Date Options, File Association, Language).

Interface modifications:
– When the main window is resized, the image thumbnail scales proportionally.
– The counter is now positioned using a single arrow (instead of two) that changes direction with each click.
– Updated design for the settings icons.
– Main buttons have been enlarged and centered.

Bug fix: regarding the "Date" option (using the file creation date). If the "no separator" option was selected, the returned date would be empty. This is a very long-standing bug that had never been reported to me.

Bug fix: Following the creation of a translation module in version 3.6.0.0, changing the language would cause the loss of settings selected in EXIF mode. While not a major issue, this has been corrected for users who might need to change languages frequently.

Version 3.6.0 (10/22/2026):

Renomme is finally multilingual. It is written natively in French, meaning that if translation files are missing from the Renomme directory, the application will still function.
For this initial release, language files for English and German are provided.

The structure of these files is very simple; you can create your own translations for other languages or improve the existing files. You are welcome to send your work to me.

Online help buttons: Historically, Renomme included an online help file in the Winhelp format—a format removed from Windows in 2007. Details like this suggest that Renomme belongs in a museum of digital history.
Tools capable of reading Winhelp files have been non-functional since Windows 10.

All existing help buttons now point to the relevant contextual help anchor on this website.
